New future for the South Dorset Ridgeway

The Heritage Lottery Fund has just announced that our Landscape Partnership Bid for the South Dorst Ridgeway has been successful! The Dorset AONB Team submitted the bid in February with the help of many environmental, arts and heritage organisations who will act as delivery partners for this 6 year project.

Ian Rees, who co-ordinated the bid is delighted "We have been given the go ahead to move into Stage 2 of the bidding process which means we have a year to develop the ideas in more detail. It was fantastic working with so many committed and creative organisations to get the bid this far and the Team are really excited about developing this partnership further."

Once through the Development Stage, the Project will begin in autumn 2012 and take a landscape scale approach for the Ridgeway. Projects will include developing wildlife habitats, improving access at Black Down, setting up a Forest School and other educational opportunities, as well as using artists and new technologies to bring the diverse heritage of the Ridgeway alive.
