Salisbury traders sought to promote Independants Day

AS several more businesses in Salisbury close their doors, the Journal is calling on people to Shop Local, while businesses owners and organisations in the city are taking action to try to bring people back into the city and support small, independent businesses as they try to keep going.

STRAWBERRY Fox owner Theresa Wood, with support from Susi Mason of Casa Fina and Salisbury City Centre Management (CCM), is launching a campaign to try to revive independent businesses in the city.

She is planning a week of events to coincide with an Independents Day on July 4, and is encouraging others to get involved.

“The initiative is solely to enhance trade and assist in highlighting the awareness of the variety of services and products provided by individual business owners in the city,” said Ms Wood.

The announcement of the campaign comes just after the launch of Salisbury First, a group formed for the discussion of issues that impact on the vitality and viability of the city.

The Federation of Small Businesses, CCM, Salisbury Cathedral, the Chamber of Commerce, Salisbury City Council, Salisbury Vision, Visit Wiltshire and Wiltshire Council aim to work in partnership to resolve issues.
