The benefits deriving from national park authorities

On 24th May Defra published a working paper entitled ‘National Park Authorities – Assessment of Benefits’. The study was commissioned to test whether it was possible to assess the contribution made by national park authorities, particularly the impact of the authorities themselves (as opposed to the value which comes from designating land as national park). Although there are many challenges in the methodology of such research, the report has identified a number of areas where the national park authorities provide benefits.
